Short answer

New Zealand AI training providers for business teams include Levy Street (Wellington), ACE Training (Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch), Waboom AI (Auckland), Radically (Auckland), Lumify Work (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) and AI Supercharge (Wellington). Choose by what staff must do afterwards: a scheduled course suits one person learning one tool, while in-house sessions on your own documents suit a team changing how it works.

  • Paid Copilot and AI courses in this guide start from NZ$89 + GST, as listed on 20 October 2026.
  • Published in-house workshop prices in this guide run from NZ$1,995 to NZ$11,000 + GST.
  • Choose training that uses your own documents and tools, with data rules agreed first.
  • Levy Street wrote this guide, is listed first, and runs in-house team training.
  • The Regional Business Partner Network subsidises some AI training; ask a Growth Advisor before booking.

This guide covers training for a group of staff: workshops, in-house sessions and courses on the tool you already pay for. For a qualification or a self-paced course for one person, including technical courses from NobleProg, see our guide to AI courses in New Zealand.

For team training, ask whether exercises use your own documents, which tools are covered and what happens afterwards.

We do not issue certificates or publish prices.

How to choose an AI training provider

Decide what people must be able to do a month after training. One person learning one tool needs a dated course; a team changing how it works needs sessions on its own files; leaders need a workshop that ends in decisions, such as our executive AI workshops. Large consultancies also train within wider programmes: Deloitte New Zealand lists AI fluency for boards, leaders and teams among its AI services. Ask any provider, including us:

  • Will exercises use our own documents and tools, with personal details removed?
  • Which tools and plans does the material cover, and when was it last updated?
  • How many participants per facilitator, and how much time is hands-on?
  • What does it teach about privacy and what must never be entered?
  • What follows the session: clinics, lessons, a shared prompt library?
  • How will we measure whether people use what they learned?
  • Is the price per person or per group, including GST and travel?

Our training needs assessment helps with the first question. For a view on your own team, book a short assessment conversation; if a scheduled course above suits you better, we will say so.

Where AI training goes wrong

  • Training before the rules. Without approved tools and plans, staff practise on personal accounts. The Privacy Commissioner advises against entering personal or confidential information unless the provider has confirmed it is not retained or disclosed (OPC). Our AI use policy template is a starting point.
  • The wrong tool. A Copilot course does little for a team that works in Claude, and the reverse.
  • One session, no follow-up. Habits form in the weeks after; ask for clinics or an internal champion.
  • Counting attendance, not use. Measure weekly use and time on two or three named tasks.

Funding, GST and data: New Zealand specifics

  • Subsidised training. business.govt.nz says the Regional Business Partner Network offers subsidised training, including AI workshops. AI Supercharge and Mosaic Partners each say a course is registered with it; your regional Growth Advisor decides eligibility.
  • The AI Advisory Pilot funds advice, not training. It co-funds up to 50% of an AI roadmap and its implementation for businesses with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent staff, and runs until 30 June 2027.
  • Compare like with like. Most providers quote excluding GST; the University of Auckland quotes including GST.
  • Course platforms hold data. AI New Zealand, for example, says learner information is kept in Sydney, with some processing in the United States. Ask any online provider.

The separate AI Advisory Pilot co-funds up to 50% of an AI roadmap and its implementation for businesses with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent staff until 30 June 2027; it pays for advice, not general training. The old Digital Boost website now redirects to business.govt.nz.
