Levy Street in one paragraph
Levy Street is a New Zealand AI engineering and advisory company based in Wellington. It was founded by Max Polaczuk and Chris Herrmann, who previously built Sportsflare, an esports odds company acquired by Entain in 2023. Levy Street designs, builds and runs AI systems for New Zealand organisations, trains teams, and builds its own AI products, including Singing Coach AI, Idyllic, Lucent and World of ClaudeCraft.
- Based in Wellington; works with organisations across New Zealand.
- Lab agnostic: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and open-weight models, chosen by testing.
- Runs its own AI products in production, with real users and real bills.
- Legal entity: Dreamhome AI Limited (NZBN 9429051260064), trading as Levy Street.
Why Levy Street exists
Every organisation in New Zealand now has to decide what to do about AI, and most are being sold either hype or fear. The truth sits between: AI can do remarkable work when it is applied to the right problem and engineered properly, and it fails badly when it is not. We started Levy Street to be the team that knows the difference, and that can build the systems, not just talk about them.
We build intelligent systems for the real economy. We combine strategy, engineering and product craft to help ambitious organisations move faster, think more clearly and create measurable economic value.
Where we come from
Levy Street’s founders built Sportsflare, a New Zealand company that priced esports betting markets in real time with AI and sold the odds to sportsbooks. Sportsflare was acquired by Tiidal Gaming Group in 2021, and Tiidal sold it to Entain in 2023 for C$13.25 million. That company taught us what production AI demands: models that run continuously, are measured in money, and fail in public when they are wrong.
The team’s research has been cited by researchers at Google Brain, Amazon Web Services and Alibaba, among others, and our CEO previously built large-scale AI systems at Xero. See the people behind the systems.
What we do
AI consulting
Find the workflows where AI changes the numbers, and a costed plan for the first one.
ReadCustom AI development
Production systems built around your data, permissions and existing software.
ReadForward deployed engineers
Our engineers embedded with your operators until the system earns its keep.
ReadAI training for teams
Hands-on sessions that turn occasional prompting into reliable daily use.
ReadOur products
Running our own products is how we stay honest about what works. They have real users, real costs and nowhere to hide:
| Product | What it is |
|---|---|
| World of ClaudeCraft | A free, open-source browser MMO; first version built in about 48 hours with an AI coding model; 2,300+ GitHub stars |
| Singing Coach AI | An AI vocal coach for iPhone, Android and the web |
| Idyllic | A consumer AI image generation and editing platform |
| Lucent | An agentic investment research platform for NZX and ASX |
| MOGGED Digital | An AI-native studio for websites, search and advertising |
| Oneshot Gems | A feed of instant browser games people can create with AI |
| SPAWN D | An open-source control plane for coding agents |
How we work
We sit with the people closest to the workflow, map the real constraints, and find the narrow places where AI can change speed, margin or decision quality. Then we build the smallest production-grade system that can prove it, measure it against a number the business already tracks, and harden it so it keeps working without us in the room. The full approach is on how we build production AI.
We are deliberately lab agnostic. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and the open-weight ecosystem all have different strengths, and the right choice depends on your workflow, not our preference.
