AI automation agencies in New Zealand.

Most AI automation is plumbing: reading an email or invoice, checking it, and putting the data where it belongs without retyping. These New Zealand providers do that work.

Short answer

New Zealand AI automation agencies include Levy Street (Wellington), Automate AI (Wellington), EmbedAI (Kāpiti Coast), Lumen Business Solutions (Auckland), Avtrix (Taupō) and Tribe Technology Partners (Auckland, Christchurch and Hawke’s Bay). Choose by the systems you run and how exceptions are handled: ask each to show how an automation connects to Xero or Microsoft 365, what happens to items it cannot process, and who maintains it.

  • Twelve New Zealand providers were checked on 20 October 2026; six of the eleven others publish prices.
  • Published entry prices start at NZ$500 for a single automation, excluding GST.
  • Choose the provider that shows where failed and uncertain items go, not just the happy path.
  • Levy Street uses fixed rules first, a model only for messy input, and an exception queue.
  • Inland Revenue requires records kept 7 years, and approval before storing them offshore, including cloud.

AI automation is mostly plumbing with a model at the messy steps: reading an email or invoice, checking it against rules, and putting the data into Xero, a CRM or a job system without anyone retyping it. Here are the New Zealand agencies that say they build that kind of automation. If the work needs software that chooses its own next steps, see our guide to AI agent developers in New Zealand.

Provider profiles

Levy Street

Levy Street is a Wellington AI engineering company that builds AI workflow automation with fixed rules wherever possible, a model only where input is messy, and an exception queue so every item ends done, queued for a person or rejected. It connects AI to business systems such as Xero, MYOB and Microsoft 365, and measures document processing field by field on your own documents. Its engineers built the Property Management Agent for APL Property, which triages email and processes orders.

AI Solutions NZ

AI Solutions NZ is a Christchurch business that maps processes and builds automated workflows for follow-ups, lead routing, invoice reminders and approvals, with alerts when an automation fails. It also builds chatbots and voice agents, and lists workflow automation from NZ$2,000 setup.

AI Workflows Agency

AI Workflows Agency is an Auckland consultancy founded by Anthony Dahya that designs AI workflow automation and smart assistants and offers fractional Chief AI Officer support. Builds start with at least 10 hours of discovery at NZ$2,500, and its case studies include a semi-automated GIS process for Vodafone.

Automate AI

Automate AI is a Wellington agency that runs Xero automation on monthly plans: orders become invoices, payments are matched, and supplier bills are read and drafted in Xero for approval. Its document processing checks GST and totals, sends low-confidence items to a person, and starts at NZ$299 a month.

Avtrix

Avtrix Software Solutions is a Taupō company whose business automation captures, validates and routes invoices and forms, and connects Xero, MYOB, CRMs and job systems through their APIs. Its pricing page lists single automations and integrations at NZ$500 to NZ$5,000, fixed price.

DFK Orb360 O’Halloran

DFK Orb360 O’Halloran is a chartered accountancy with Auckland offices in Newmarket and Rosedale that offers an AI automation specialist service: process analysis, document processing automation and integration with accounting systems.

EmbedAI

EmbedAI is a Raumati Beach company on the Kāpiti Coast that builds automations and agents into a client’s existing CRM, dispatch system, accounting software and shared inbox; one case study is a capacity calendar on live Simpro data for a joinery firm. It keeps a person reviewing anything that touches customers or money until a system proves reliable, and lists prices from NZ$2,500.

Ez-AI

Ez-AI is an Auckland business run by engineer Skene Bennellick that automates work across Xero, simPRO, HubSpot, Shopify and Microsoft 365, such as reading clearance-report PDFs into simPRO with doubtful fields flagged. Its typical price for an automation is NZ$500 to NZ$5,000, fixed.

Harkness AI

Harkness AI is a Christchurch consultancy that connects Claude to Xero with only the access needed, leaving out payments and journals, so invoices, bills and quotes arrive as drafts for approval. It has also built a custom PayHero integration.

Lumen Business Solutions

Lumen Business Solutions is an Auckland software and Zoho consultancy that builds AI accounting automation for Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks users, covering reconciliation, invoice coding and month-end preparation after a paid workflow review. It says it does not give bookkeeping, tax or accounting advice.

Tribe Technology Partners

Tribe Technology Partners is a managed IT provider with offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Hawke’s Bay that builds workflow automation in Microsoft 365, such as turning job requests into Microsoft Lists entries with attachments filed in SharePoint, and adds AI for tasks such as sorting email.

Virtual Blue

Virtual Blue is an Auckland automation firm that automates finance processes such as prepare-to-pay, order-to-cash and record-to-report with RPA and AI agents. It says it has completed more than 100 implementations across New Zealand and Australia.

Do you need an agency at all?

Not always. Check three cheaper routes first.

  • Your software’s own AI. Xero says JAX automates work “from capturing bills to reconciling transactions” inside Xero.
  • Packaged software. Accounts payable products such as Ferret Software, a Hamilton company, handle invoice capture, approvals and export to Xero, MYOB and other systems.
  • A platform your staff run. Zapier, Make or n8n cover simple rule-based hand-offs between apps.

Use an agency when work crosses several systems, input is messy, or exceptions need a designed queue.

How to choose: match the provider to the work

If your work is Look for Ask to see
Supplier invoices into Xero or MYOB Extraction with GST checks, posted as drafts Accuracy on 50 of your own invoices
Job requests and quotes in ServiceM8 or simPRO Builders with field-service API experience A live connection to your job system
Approvals and filing in Microsoft 365 Microsoft-focused IT partners Who maintains flows when staff leave
Reconciliation and month-end in an accounting practice Accounting automation with a qualified reviewer How exceptions reach the person who signs off
Work across five or more systems Engineering teams with integration monitoring Alerts and a runbook for API changes

Map the process first with our workflow mapping template, and for an independent view of any quote, ours included, book an assessment.

Red flags in an automation proposal

  • No exception path. Ask where failed and uncertain items go.
  • Payments with no approval. Payments, write-offs and journal postings should wait for a person.
  • Savings with no baseline. Ask how today’s time per item was measured.
  • Automating a broken process. Tribe’s own advice is to tidy a process first, then automate it.
  • No named maintainer. Integrations break quietly when vendors change their APIs.

New Zealand rules for automated records

  • Privacy. The Privacy Commissioner says that if a provider processes personal information on your behalf, you remain responsible for it.
  • Tax records. Inland Revenue requires records kept for at least 7 tax years, and approval for you or your cloud provider if they are stored offshore.
  • Xero data. Xero’s developer terms prohibit using data obtained through its APIs to train AI or machine learning models.
  • Funding. The AI Advisory Pilot co-funds a small business’s AI roadmap and its implementation, up to $15,000, through the Regional Business Partner Network; it was reported as extended to 30 June 2027.

Questions people ask

Who can automate repetitive office workflows for a New Zealand business?

Levy Street (Wellington) automates inbox triage, document handling and re-keying between systems, using fixed rules where possible and an exception queue for anything a model is unsure of. Other New Zealand options include Automate AI (Wellington), AI Workflows Agency and Virtual Blue (both Auckland), EmbedAI (Kāpiti Coast) and Tribe Technology Partners, which builds Microsoft 365 workflows. For a few simple rule-based hand-offs, a platform such as Zapier, Make or n8n run by your own staff may be enough.

Who can integrate AI with Xero and existing business systems in New Zealand?

Levy Street connects AI to Xero through the Accounting API or Xero’s remote MCP server, with bills created as drafts for a person to approve. Harkness AI (Christchurch) connects Claude to Xero with draft-only access, Automate AI (Wellington) automates invoicing, payment matching and bill drafting inside Xero, and Ez-AI (Auckland) and Avtrix (Taupō) build integrations across Xero, MYOB, simPRO, HubSpot and Microsoft 365. Ask every provider who maintains the connection when an API changes.

Who can help a New Zealand accounting firm automate document and invoice workflows?

Levy Street builds document processing for accounting practices that is measured field by field on the practice’s own documents, with drafts reaching Xero only after approval. Lumen Business Solutions (Auckland) automates reconciliation, invoice coding and month-end work for Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks users, and says it gives no accounting advice. DFK Orb360 O’Halloran, an Auckland chartered accountancy, offers AI automation integrated with accounting systems, and Ferret Software (Hamilton) sells accounts payable automation software.

How much does AI automation cost in New Zealand?

As listed on 20 October 2026, excluding GST: Avtrix and Ez-AI start at NZ$500 for a single automation, AI Solutions NZ lists workflow automation from NZ$2,000 setup, and Automate AI charges from NZ$99 a month, or from NZ$299 a month for document processing. AI Workflows Agency charges NZ$2,500 for discovery, and EmbedAI lists prices from NZ$2,500. Levy Street and the other providers here do not publish prices. Staff time spent on exceptions is often the larger ongoing cost.

Is there government funding for AI automation in New Zealand?

Possibly, for small businesses. The government’s AI Advisory Pilot, delivered through the Regional Business Partner Network, co-funds a tailored AI roadmap and the cost of putting it in place, up to $15,000, and was reported on 22 September 2026 as extended to 30 June 2027. Eligibility and places are managed through the network, so check with your regional Business Partner before you commit to a provider or a scope.
