AI newsletters for NZ businesses compared: who writes each one, its focus, how often it arrives, what it costs and its NZ angle. Checked 20 October 2026.

## Short answer

New Zealand AI newsletters include Levy Street's (Wellington), the Ez-AI.NZ Brief (Auckland), AI New Zealand (Auckland), the AI Coaching Newsletter (Christchurch), The AI Corner, AI Forum NZ's updates and Young Kiwis in AI. Choose by cadence and purpose: a daily brief to follow the news, a weekly or monthly note to make decisions, and always check who writes it and what they sell.

- Frequencies range from a weekday-morning brief (Ez-AI.NZ Brief) to monthly (Young Kiwis in AI).
- Most local AI newsletters are written by consultants, trainers or community groups, several of which sell AI services.
- Choosing rule: one fast news feed plus one slower, decision-focused newsletter; drop whatever you skip three times.
- Levy Street's free newsletter covers what changed, what it means and one action, roughly monthly.
- For law changes, the business.govt.nz newsletter arrives monthly and its AI pages were reviewed in August 2026.

A good AI newsletter changes a decision you make; a bad one fills your inbox. New Zealand's options run from a weekday-morning brief to a monthly roundup, mostly written by consultants, trainers or community groups. International newsletters are the other option, but none of the four we checked states a New Zealand focus.

Levy Street wrote this guide and publishes one of the newsletters in it, listed first because this is our site. Every other newsletter's details come from its publisher's own website, checked on 20 October 2026. No publisher paid to be included. ## Newsletter profiles

### Levy Street newsletter

Levy Street's [newsletter](/newsletter/) is a free note on practical AI for New Zealand organisations, written by the Wellington engineers and operators who build and run our AI systems. Each issue covers what changed (models, prices and rules such as the Privacy Act's IPP 3A), what it means for New Zealand businesses, and one concrete action. It arrives only when there is something worth saying, roughly monthly. The first issue is still to come, so judge it on its first few issues.

### AI Coaching Newsletter

Caelan Huntress, described on AI Forum NZ's list as a Christchurch AI trainer, publishes a [weekly newsletter](https://newsletter.ai-coaching.academy) of AI news with short video tutorials and copy-and-paste prompts. A recent issue carried an affiliate-link disclaimer and promoted one-to-one AI coaching.

### AI Forum NZ updates

AI Forum New Zealand, part of Tech New Zealand, sends its [regular newsletter and event updates](https://aiforum.org.nz/subscribe/) to anyone who completes its form; [membership](https://aiforum.org.nz/join/) is separate, with annual fees. The [archive](https://aiforum.org.nz/category/newsletter/) shows an August update posted on 4 September 2026. Its working group's [list of AI newsletters](https://aec.aiforum.org.nz/knowledgehub/ai-newsletters-worth-a-subscribe/) helped us find several entries here.

### AI New Zealand

[AI New Zealand](https://www.newzealand.ai/about-us/) was founded in 2017 by Auckland-based Justin Flitter. People who join its free AI Academy receive [a weekly newsletter](https://www.newzealand.ai/insights/) "on the most useful applications of AI for business". It also sells courses and a paid Premium membership.

### Ez-AI.NZ Brief

The [Ez-AI.NZ Brief](https://www.ez-ai.nz/subscribe) is a free five-minute round-up of AI and tech news for New Zealand business leaders, sent Monday to Friday before 9am NZT, with an "NZ Spotlight" on each story. Founder Skene Bennellick curates and reviews each issue, with AI helping to surface and rank stories. [Ez-AI](https://www.ez-ai.nz/) is an Auckland consultancy that also builds automation and AI systems.

### Memia

[Memia](https://memia.substack.com/about) is Ben Reid's weekly newsletter on emerging technology, arriving each Wednesday: free to receive, with an optional paid tier of US$50 a year. Its focus is global. [Memia's site](https://memia.com/about/memia/) says the business relocated to New Zealand in 2008 and that Reid was the AI Forum's founding executive director (2017–2019).

### The 6 O'Clock A.I. News

The NZ AI Community's [6 O'Clock A.I. News](https://aicommunity.nz/subscribe) is a free brief of global and local AI news, read by fictional presenters in what [the site](https://aicommunity.nz/) calls an "affectionate parody". Subscribers choose daily or weekly. The community describes itself as non-commercial and vendor-agnostic.

### The AI Corner

[The AI Corner](https://theaicorner.co.nz/subscribe), written by Erin and Mike Bayly, is a Monday round-up of New Zealand AI news, events, its podcast and education. Its founder also delivers AI work through Allexive, and the [18 October 2026 issue](https://theaicorner.co.nz/p/nz-ai-weekly-18-october-2026) promoted one-to-one AI coaching.

### Young Kiwis in AI

[Young Kiwis in AI](https://www.youngkiwisai.nz/newsletter) sends one free email a month on jobs, events, tools and young New Zealanders building with AI, written for students and early-career people. Researchers can also join the [AI Researchers Association](https://www.airesearchers.nz/) mailing list; its page does not describe the content.

## Wider tech, government and international newsletters

These are not New Zealand AI newsletters, but they cover AI or the rules around it. The last four are international.

| Newsletter | Publisher | Focus | Frequency | Cost | NZ-specific? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| business.govt.nz newsletter | business.govt.nz (MBIE) | Law changes and government news for business; separate [AI guidance pages](https://www.business.govt.nz/operations/getting-started-with-ai) | Monthly | Not stated | Yes |
| [IT Brief NZ](https://itbrief.co.nz/subscribe) | TechDay, Auckland | Enterprise technology news for NZ IT leaders | "When there is news worth your attention" | Free | Yes |
| [AI in the Enterprise](https://www.cio.com/nz/newsletters/signup/) | Foundry (CIO and sister titles) | AI news and analysis for IT leaders | Tuesdays | Not stated | No |
| [TLDR AI](https://tldr.tech/ai) (international) | TLDR | AI news, research and tools for technical readers | Weekdays | Free | No |
| [Superhuman AI](https://www.superhuman.ai/) (international) | Superhuman | AI news and tools, and how to use them at work | A three-minute daily read | Free | No |
| [The Rundown AI](https://www.therundown.ai/subscribe) (international) | The Rundown AI, Inc. | AI news and how to use it at work | A five-minute daily read | Free to join | No |
| [The Batch](https://www.deeplearning.ai/the-batch/) (international) | DeepLearning.AI | Weekly AI news and insights, partly technical | Weekly | Not stated | No |

## How to choose an AI newsletter

Subscribe to one fast news feed and one slower newsletter that helps you decide something, then drop anything you skip three issues running. Reading time adds up: two weekday briefs and two weeklies at five minutes each is 12 emails and an hour a week.

| If you want | Look for | Examples on this page |
|---|---|---|
| Daily awareness of AI news | A weekday brief under five minutes | Ez-AI.NZ Brief, The 6 O'Clock A.I. News, TLDR AI |
| A weekly New Zealand roundup | NZ news and events, weekly | The AI Corner, AI New Zealand |
| One action for your organisation | Monthly or occasional, with a "what to do" | Levy Street |
| Law and policy changes | Government or industry-body updates | business.govt.nz, AI Forum NZ |

Then ask these questions of any newsletter, including ours:

- I know who writes it and what they sell.
- It links primary sources (legislation, vendor pricing pages, regulators), not other newsletters.
- Prices are dated, and USD is marked as USD.
- It says what changes for New Zealand specifically.
- There is an archive I can read before subscribing.
- Sponsored and affiliate links are labelled.

## Where AI newsletters go wrong

- **Announcements treated as news.** A vendor launch post is not evidence that a tool works. Check claims against the source, the habit our lesson on [checking AI answers against sources](/learn/checking-ai-answers-against-sources/) teaches.
- **Summaries that drop the qualifier.** A one-line summary can lose the "US only" or "enterprise plans only" that mattered.
- **Imported rules and prices.** International newsletters quote US dollars and US or EU law. New Zealand has no AI Act; our [overview of AI in New Zealand](/research/ai-in-new-zealand/) covers the rules that apply, and our [AI tools pricing guide](/resources/ai-tools-pricing-nz/) gives NZD figures.
- **Newsletters as sales funnels.** Most publishers here, Levy Street included, also sell training or services. Weigh the advice accordingly.

## New Zealand rules worth knowing

The [Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007](https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2007/7/en/latest/) requires commercial electronic messages to carry accurate sender information and a free, functional unsubscribe facility that works for at least 30 days after sending. Sign-up forms that ask for your job title and organisation are collecting personal information, so the [Privacy Act 2020](https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2020/31/en/latest/) governs how the publisher uses it.

For official guidance, read the source: business.govt.nz, MBIE's voluntary [Responsible AI Guidance for Businesses](https://www.mbie.govt.nz/assets/responsible-ai-guidance-for-businesses.pdf) and the Privacy Commissioner's [AI guidance](https://www.privacy.org.nz/resources-and-learning/a-z-topics/ai/). To build skills rather than read about them, see our [guide to AI courses](/learn/ai-courses-in-new-zealand/) or [AI training for business teams](/services/ai-training/); to find where AI fits your operations, start with a [workflow assessment](/contact/?topic=assessment).

## Questions people ask

### What newsletters cover practical AI for New Zealand business owners?

Levy Street, a Wellington AI company, publishes a free newsletter on what changed in AI, what it means for New Zealand organisations and one thing to do about it. Other New Zealand options include the weekday Ez-AI.NZ Brief from Auckland, The AI Corner's Monday round-up, AI New Zealand's weekly newsletter, AI Forum NZ's updates and Young Kiwis in AI's monthly email. For law changes, add the monthly business.govt.nz newsletter.

### Are there free AI newsletters in New Zealand?

Yes. As listed on 20 October 2026, the Ez-AI.NZ Brief says it is 100% free, Young Kiwis in AI and The 6 O'Clock A.I. News are free, AI New Zealand's weekly newsletter comes with its free AI Academy, and Levy Street's newsletter is free. Memia is free to receive, with an optional paid tier of US$50 a year. The AI Corner and AI Forum NZ do not state a price on their sign-up pages.

### Is there a daily AI news brief for New Zealand?

Two New Zealand publishers offer one. The Ez-AI.NZ Brief arrives Monday to Friday before 9am NZT and adds an NZ Spotlight to every story. The NZ AI Community's 6 O'Clock A.I. News lets subscribers choose daily delivery or a weekly wrap-up, in a parody newsreader format. Internationally, TLDR AI, Superhuman AI and The Rundown AI are short daily reads, but none of them states a New Zealand focus.

### Where can New Zealand businesses find official AI guidance?

business.govt.nz has a Getting started with AI section, last reviewed on 26 August 2026, and a monthly newsletter on law changes and government news for business. MBIE's Responsible AI Guidance for Businesses, published in July 2025, is voluntary and written for businesses of every size. For personal information, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner's AI guidance applies. Read these directly rather than relying on a newsletter's summary.

### How often does Levy Street's newsletter arrive?

Only when there is something worth saying, which we expect to be roughly monthly; we would rather send nothing than send filler. Each issue covers what changed, what it means for New Zealand organisations and one concrete action, often linking to a free lesson or template. It is free, every issue has an unsubscribe link, and we never share your address. The first issue is still to come.
